Install Node.js once
From nodejs.org, use the green LTS button and keep every default.

Download AEON
Get the latest release from GitHub and unzip it anywhere. The Desktop is fine.

Launch it
Windows: double-click LAUNCH.bat. macOS: launch.command. Linux: ./launch.sh. Every setup question can be skipped with Enter.
What's inside
A small kernel. Capabilities arrive as blocks.
Think Linux for the AI era: a kernel that discovers self-contained blocks, a settings layer every block reports to, and a vault that encrypts your keys.
Terminal
Talk to AEON in plain English. Use / commands, or drag and drop files.
Second Brain
Indexes your files and answers with sources. The Aeon Matrix shows your documents as a knowledge graph, and an Index tab shows exactly what is embedded.
Encrypted vault
Your API keys are encrypted on your machine. AEON keeps its data in one folder in your home directory.
Local models
Open the Cookbook block, install the local runtime, and download a model with one click. No key needed, fully private.
Free cloud AI, if you prefer
Paste a free key from Google AI Studio or Groq. Rotating several keys spreads the load.
Blocks
Every block declares what it can touch. AEON shows you that before you install it, never after.

Add blocks from the store.
The core is complete on its own, and it is not a trial. When you want a specific capability, a block adds it. New blocks arrive switched off, you add your own keys, and nothing is bundled.
The honest limit
Blocks share one Node process. A block's manifest describes what it should do and governs what AEON hands it. It is not a sandbox against hostile code. That is fine while you install blocks you trust, so only install blocks from sources you trust.
